The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Issues: First National License for Operation of Radiation-Generating Devices to Lorestan University

Nov 14, 2025

Following the efforts of the Lorestan University Central Laboratory (a subsidiary of the Vice-Presidency for Research and Technology), for the first time in the history of this university, an employment license and operational permit for radiation-generating devices were issued by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran for the university's educational and research activities; an achievement that is considered a valuable step in upgrading research infrastructure and radiation safety.

According to the Public Relations of Lorestan University, this permit was issued by the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran for two specialized devices, including: an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) in Central Laboratory No. 1, located in Kamalvand Campus, and a radiology device in the specialized hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

National Supervision and Ten-Year Validity

Based on the laws and strict supervision of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the issued license is valid for 10 years and is registered in the name of the specialized users of each "radiation-emitting device."

The legal representative of Lorestan University and the liaison with the Atomic Energy Organization, Mr. "Ahmad Valipour," a specialist at the Central Laboratory, is one of the two radiation workers with specifications registered in the relevant organization.

Obtaining this national license facilitates the development of applied, educational, and technological research in various fields of basic sciences, engineering, technical fields, and veterinary medicine.

It should be noted that in the absence of follow-up and the issuance of a license, inspectors from the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran can determine heavy legal financial penalties for organizations, laboratories, and universities regarding the use of such specialized devices.
